CONQUER

A device to assist polio-survivors navigate the stairs

Started from meeting my client.

In collaboration with the Ci Guang Foundation, we conducted a series of indoor and outdoor sessions. Our goal was to gain a holistic understanding of her needsβ€”balancing both her physical aesthetics and her mental well-being.

The client insight

She is a brave traveler with polio who frequently requires assistance to navigate stairs.

At times, the sense of vulnerability causes her to give up on certain destinations. She ends up waiting at the bottom for her friends to return, missing out on the full experience.

The concpet

Conquer is a reeling system that extends up to 8 meters of rope.

While climbing stairs, the user ask for a helping hand to anchor the carabiner at the top of the hand rail.

This acts as a second holding point, essentially doubleing the up-lifting force.

Adapts to any brand of rope

You can use any rope of your choice, and it only take you 3 step to setup the device.

Designed with complexity,

so it can be used with ease.
